Today is Orientation!

My day is starting out great!! As you can see my blog is now fixed~hooray!!! I had a great night's rest. Bought a new shirt and sandals for today, you know so I can look all cute and stuff and at least pretend to look as young as the baby students.. lol My hubby says I do... that's all that matters.. I looked online to see if I am able to register for my classes today and I CAN at 3:00 p.m. Thank goodness hubby already attends the school, he managed to hold some classes for me, since everything is pretty much gone. So now I am about to shower, straighten my hair and get fabulous! Orientation begins at 11 but I am trying to get there by 10 in order for me to stop by financial aid. As you know they still haven't posted any of my aid info. My hubby thinks they are waiting until orientation is complete to make sure the student is actually going to attend. Here's a listing of the classes I am hoping to get today:

Psyc 1101
Pols 1103
Soci 2105
Freshman Seminar
Phil 2200
Free Elective - Possibly

These are the only classes during the summer semester that I can take in conjunction with the CNA course I am taking starting June 1. Wish me luck!

And Away We Go...

Sooooo, I completed my paperwork for the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) evening course - YEAH ME!! Classes start June 1 for 4 weeks and will be on Mon, Tues and Thurs from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. with clinicals all day Saturday. One day will be needed for the NNAAP Exam and Career Enhancement - although as you know I am currently an Executive Assistant, not sure of when I will be hanging that hat up. But I want to gain some experience in the healthcare field and really get my feet in it, in order to provide quality care in the future. My Pre-Reqs @ fantastic school in Georgia begin on May 24th which I will register for this Friday after orientation - YEAH ME AGAIN!! I will have to take whatever courses during the summer semester I can in order for my schedule to work itself out before the fall semester. Remember my hubby is in school full time as well studying to get his Masters in Education - or maybe I never mentioned what he was studying. Anywhoooooo, I am so excited!! Everything is working itself out, now we just have to let the sitter know we will need her later in the evening for one day in the week for at least a month. But we are sooo busy, time is flying by and my head is starting to spin.

Household Tips for the on-the-go Nursing Student

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of Spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!

To Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in A microwave with a cup of water.. The increased moisture will keep the food Moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, Put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and for- get about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not Get through wet newspapers.

Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-t ip t o pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... At DA! ..... Static is gone.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup.. Next, add your ingredient, such As peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Re-opening envelopes
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include s om ething inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.

Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material .. I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. Well ..... the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free ... that nice fragrance too. You know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box ... well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very longtime (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?! Learn something new everyday! I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share! Note: I went to my dryer and tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water and a nylon brush and I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it .. the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! That repairman knew what he was talking about!

**For those of you who read my Confessions post; isn't it great to find out that there are other uses for Fabric Softener Sheets??? Woo Hooo! GET OUT OF HERE MOSQUITOS, I need to stay fresh!!**

Blog Feed: That's Just Unsanitary!

Hey guys! So here is a post made by one of my bloggy friends @ Crash-Course In Nursing that I love to read who is currently a nursing student. We thought it would be great to get feedback of how some of you in the field or headed into the field of Nursing would react or care for the man who needed treatment in the post? For those of us who are newbies entering the field, we need to be aware of all aspects of the field and hopefully be ready to bring forth the effort it takes to be an awesome Nurse... It is hard-work, takes perseverance, dedication and a will to carry out quality work. Some won't cut it, some will go above and beyond. Which one are you?

Share your feedback, thoughts, critiques. We as (hopefully future) nurses need to be prepared...

That's Just Unsanitary!

Friday was another 12 hour shift in Midsize Non-Trauma Center's ED, and while there were only two people I would actually be able to label "True Emergencies" all shift, there were some VERY interesting cases in other ways, which was impressive given that when I walked in at 645, there were NO PATIENTS IN THE DEPARTMENT. I curled up on one of the swivelly chairs and DIDNT SAY ANYTHING for fear of jinxing it, but as predicted, the "quiet" (oh no! i typed it!) only lasted about half an hour.

The first truly bizarre/awful case of the day was a 500 some-odd pound man, brought in for, ironically "failure to thrive". This MUST only be a social designation, since in neonates "failure to thrive" means they're LITTLE...not this particular gentleman's problem. His problem was bilateral cellulitis of the lower legs. REALLY GROSS cellulitis of the lower legs. They were wrapped in biohazard bags by the medics, who promptly ran outside and started shaking their clothes off on arrival...which is NEVER a good sign. Apparently this gentleman had ROACHES LIVING IN HIS SKIN FOLDS.

The truly odd thing about this large man was that he was COMPLETELY LUCID, and convinced that we were "making a big deal out of nothing!". He was caked in dirt, apparently from "pulling himself across the floor" which he didn't seem to think was a problem in and of itself, and was FURIOUS that he'd been taken out of his house. It took us (me, my partner and three Real Nurses) almost an hour to get him all cleaned up. He was really quite polite, and seemed lucid, albiet with a HUGE blind spot about how bad his house and hygeine really were. He was admitted to med-surg, for placement in assisted living, and may lose both his legs to gangrene.

I learned that the smell of gangrene actually does not upset me nearly as much as I had originally thought. Good to know! On the other hand, I have also learned that I will be itching for the rest of any day when a patient has bugs.

Its tough to know how to feel about a patient like this- on one hand, you KNOW they cannot take care of themselves, because...well...he was dragging himself across the FLOOR in a filthy house! But on the other hand, now we're taking away all his perceived independence. Tough call.

Confessions... Shhhhhush please

So as you know I was given the Honest Scrap Award on Saturday - and I must say boy were the qualifications hard. Alrighty, here goes the moment we've all been waiting for: my 10 confessions that I must let you in on.

  1. Deep down inside of me, there is a woman who is a size 8, but she'll never get out because I love food. I have such a weakness for food, cakes, cookies, Baskin-Robbins' double chocolate milkshakes. I really, really want to be skinny.
  2. I hate when my husband does the laundry because he never folds the clothes and I hate folding clothes more than I hate passing up double chocolate milkshakes.
  3. I'm afraid I won't have enough friends to pass this on to.
  4. Needles, Vomit, Blood and Old People scare the heck out of me, but I want to be a nurse.. HUH?
  5. I'm very outgoing, but I think I smile too much which may make me come off as desperate or wanting to be acknowledged. One or the other it's still not cool..
  6. I need my husband to hold my butt in order to go to sleep at night. (you did say this was the Honest Scrap award right?)
  7. I'm addicted to Plug Ins & Febreze Noticables. I stand in the fragrance aisle for hours at a time, I'll buy different scents, but then I'll get mad because I didn't stick with my favorite plug in - Clean Linen.
  8. Call me OCD - enough said
  9. It drives me crazy that my flowers on here are behind (in the background) my blog, but I refuse to edit and lose my header because I love it so much.
  10. Have you ever gone the extra mile to prevent something from happening? Well look here, I do, OK? I wear fabric softener sheets in my pockets and I stuff them anywhere I can on my kids (sometimes I sneak them in my hubby's pockets too or in his pillowcase) so we'll always smell fresh even if we are a little stinky.. lol
And the BONUS

  • I blame my hubby for everything...

Now I need to decide on who I am going to award, and my how much fun that is going to be. Let me think on it! I'll get back to ya on that one...

Well now that I have gotten through that, let me just tell ya trying to wean a two year old off of the pacifier better known as THE PACI, is horrific! My son screamed so much, I got scared... lol OH MY GOOSHHHHH! I hope I have both ear drums in tact, probably not. That was definitely an Ahhhh moment, but he finally fell asleep and I thought twice about the Lorazepam I had in my hand..Umm so totally kidding on that one, but definitely would have been justified (don't you judge me, I know what you do at night.. lol). I probably can't wait up for my husband to get in from school tonight, I wouldn't be good company anyway, besides my nerves are SHOT!

I got a freaking AWARD!

LOL!!! How fabu is that?? To me it is such an honor, I want to take the time to thank my husband, my kids, Marianne @ Diary of a Fickle White Woman (hilarious bloggy friend) who has so graciously awarded me. Thank you Marianne!!! LOL, ok so I am exaggerating a little, but I did get the Honest Scrap Award!! woo hooo yeah me!!! Now I have to post 10 confessions (probably some I would rather not disclose) but you out there, no one is perfect... So now I have to actually think and; on a Sunday, who does that?? I probably won't post it until tomorrow, but at least I would have had no choice but to really think hard about it (smile). We celebrated our 2 year old's birthday today even though his birthday was yesterday, but let me refresh your memory and mention bed day. Bed day for a lack of better words is when you stay in the bed ALL DAY LONG!! That my friends was A.W.E.S.O.M.E. and we did that yesterday. So today we went out for pizza and then rocked the house to a little Kidz Bop, those kids can really bust a move. I'll have some pictures to post of the party decor, not of me, or my fam, because well love you guys and all; it's not you I don't trust, it's all the scary people that lurk on the internet!!!! Ugh... So til next time my bloggie friends.. Oh yeah, I didn't forget about my countdown til school counter. It's a coming. And I'll have to pass on the Honest Scrap award to a few of my friends that I believe deserve it. Cross your fingers and toes, it may be you...

What a great Saturday...

Doesn't it feel good when you can just lay in the bed all day and do absolutely nothing? Well that is what I got to do today. NOTHING. Big fat nothing. The babies played in their nursery, 7 year old read in her room (she's grounded) and the hubby and I watched movies, while the rain fell. Ahhhh heaven.. So glad we decided to change the date of our 2 year old son's party. The weather was crappy, but it was wonderful inside... I'll be sure to cherish the days like today in my memory bank, because they will soon be short lived!!! ONE MONTH until school starts, let the countdown begin! (I'll be posting a counter in a few..)

Just Because...

I'm on weight watchers, but I really want to go to Red Lobster... just because.

Just Because...

My husband and I had our son's 2 year bd celebration planned and scheduled for tomorrow, my husband goes and changes his mind... just because.

Love my Fridays...

Hope everyone has had a great week!! Mine has been so so, but can only get better or so I hope... Well so far my Friday has begun to be pretty awesome, yes I had to work today, but so what, thank goodness I have a job right? I found out two rocking great things.

Great thing # 1: I can make payments on my account to be a Certified Nursing Assistant until I take my final on June 28th and the fees for the NNAAP (National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam) ARE INCLUDED! YEAH!

Great thing # 2: I can place my previous student loans into an in-school deferment and bundle with my new loans! TRANSLATION: I don't have to make any more payments on student loans until I graduate!!! I CAN SAVE SOME MONEY (for right now at least) woooo hooooo!!!! (To some this is old news, but to me this is brand spanking new hot off the press!!!)

This has totally made my weekend, I wish today was orientation, but I still have one more week. Next Friday, April 30th @ 11 a.m.. I am so excited!! My hubby told me not to cry (talk about looking like a real jerk face) lol and he told me not to raise my hand and ask a gazillion questions like a re re.. lol!!

Why, Why, Why?

In lieu of the daily Just Because.. one of my co-workers sent me a why, why, why email. I thought it was hilarious!! I am posting here to share..

Why, Why, Why, Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are almost dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds'when they already know there is not enough money?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars; but have to check when you say the paint is still wet?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an 'S' in the word 'lisp'?

If people evolved from apes, Why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale? ________________________________________

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle (heel) with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, 'It's all right?' Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, 'That really hurt, why don't you watch where you're going?' (I did say, "What in the hell are you doing?" to a man who did this to me in WalMart.)

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE...... The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

Just Because...

I missed yesterday, so here is a double dose of just because...

Why is it that a person who earns 6+ figures will argue about getting free parking?... just because.

Why does the cable, internet, and phone not work when there is a storm coming, but it hasn't begun to rain?... just because.

Monday's are so Blahhhhhhhh...

I say that because I am exhausted and would prefer to be home in my bed right now, but nope I am in my office, scanning through Nursing articles, because hey, I can't wait to be a nurse. Know what I am saying?? I tried all weekend to blog, but my husband had so much studying to do and he likes me near when he is stuyding, just this weird thing we have.. lol So I was having nurse blog withdrawals, and just needed to see something on nursing. As soon as my hubby went to the grocery store, I watched re runs of Mercy. I don't even like that show!! She is so mentally screwed up. Ughhhh! But I got my quick fix. Yeahh!!!! I have been searching for a Nursing magazine subscription or articles (hardbound) that I can have delivered, without you having to be an existing nursing student, no such luck yet. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great! So yeah, next Friday, I go for orientation!!!! I have been planning out my schedule for the summer semester and it is pretty wack that I get the piddly classes that are left over from what the upperclassmen don't want:-( uhhh like my husband! But he was so sweet, he tried to hold some classes for me when he picked his classes, since he got to do that a whole month ahead of me and my incoming class... So messed up! But that didn't work, because as soon as he let one go that I didn't need, it was gone! Gone! in like 2.3 seconds of a minute! waaaaaa!! So hopefully I meet some really cool people next week like I did during my entrance exam, and no still no financial aid update... My hubby thinks they are waiting until next week after orientation.. So here is the breakdown of potential class selection, considering my hubby goes to school full time and we are trying to work around everyone's schedule with the babies including the sitter and the fact that I am starting the evening CNA program in June.

Possible Summer Classes starting May 10, 2010

Psychology - pre req
Sociology - pre req
English - pre req
Economics - program of study
Political Science - program of study
Mat 0097 - remedial (extra class - ughhh)

We'll see what happens next week...

Just Because...

Good Monday Morning!!! Ok so over the weekend, my husband and I had an ahh ha moment. You know the moment when that great idea hits you square in the face? Yes, that moment. Here we were drying the dishes, and it hits him, "why does such and such happen, just because?" So we went into stand up comedian mode, "why is it that when you are trying to get to work ON TIME all the stop lights turn red when you get to them just because?" Or "why does it rain on the weekend when you have outdoor plans, but it has been sunny all week while you have been indoors at work just because?" lol. So I decided to come up with a daily "Just Because" moment. Some will make you laugh, some will probably be only a moment that I have experienced, but some will make you say to yourself, she is surely right about that! lol. I hope you send some of your Just Because moments, make them as hilarious as you want!!! So here's mine for the day.. Why is it that 18 wheeler trucks drive on small two lane roads taking up 5 car lengths in the middle of rush hour traffic, Just Because...

Sensitivity - We lack it...

I know, I am a little late. I did say I would post this morning, but time got the best of me at work. So Sorry. Here's the breakdown. Listening?

Day 1 (Monday)
Have I mentioned I am on weight watchers? Well I used to weigh 280 pounds after my daughter was born and now I am way down in the low 180's. Good huh? Tell me about it, it would be even better if my husband (who might I add would be a size 0-2 if he were a woman)wouldn't tempt me with my favorite burgers and milkshakes, well he did good this time and didn't get the milkshake, but NO instead he brings home the warm, crispy baked doughy goodness with extra powdered sugar on it, the one that tastes like funnel cake at a theme park, woo those are so good, but I digress, here he comes, up the stairs (since he was just getting in from class)with the hot, smelling good bag, aghh I wanted to kill him, hello it was 10:30 P.M.! Hey, I had done well the entire day, ate my salads, counted my points, drank my water, walked/jogged 2.25 miles with my co worker and you bring this home, are ya freaking kidding me! I ate every last one, lol! And kissed him for it afterwards. He knew exactly what I needed; mentally, but my size 14 rumpus surely didn't! Humgph! Sensitivity issue #1

Day 2 (Tuesday)
Did I mention how great of a husband I have? and how crappy of a wife I am? Driving home from work, talking to my hubby on the phone; a routine we faithfully live by, laughing it up, haahaaa, baaahhhaaaa, everything is funny. Smooth ride home, no traffic, just nice. Alright this is going to be a nice night. Get home, pull into the garage, huh? do I hear music playing, slow music? It's 5:30 P.M. surely my little rugrats are still up running around. Walk inside, dinner is done (it normally is anyway, so no big surprise there, told you I have a great hubby)lights are dim, the kitchen is clean, WTH?? blinds are drawn, no kids around and my husband is on the sofa shirtless. See where I am going with this? Give hubby a big kiss, totally surprised, loving the mood, and the moment. In the midst of it all, I say ohhh let me run upstairs and kiss the kids. WTH! Have I lost my mind? Why would you want to kiss the kids at that moment? As I am walking towards the stairs, hubby says wait I have a surprise for you, and hands me the extra vaccuum I have been waiting for (seriously I was)I even played UNO and bet my card hands for it. There it was with 2 pretty blue bows on it. I kissed my husband and said I will be right back. again WTH! I run up the stairs, without seeing my husbands look of disappointment and not even realizing that I had hurt him, not taking the time to think about the effort that he took to plan this evening for us, or how so very little times like that moment we actually have. He came upstairs, with a look of defeat and just like that the mood was gone. I had the gall to still believe I did nothing wrong. We ate dinner, he left to play tennis, and what should have been a perfect night, turned out to be crap. Of course we made up, but it goes to show that we are so entwined with ourselves that if we just took a moment to look around we may be able to see that we are possibly hurting the ones we love and the ones who support our decisions the most. Sensitivity issue #2

Day 3 (Wednesday)
Work! Why do people walk into someone else's office and whisper to another co-worker about what another co-worker did???? Arghhhhh! Or enter a room and never acknowledge you sitting in there, uhh, yeah you're in my office jerk face. Well I guess I better build up my backbone for the nursing field, because hey I've worked with these people for over 4 years, imagine working with different people everyday!! Sensitivity issue #3

Well that's it for now, with my update of the week, and my sensitivity issues. I am sure there will be plenty more, but for now I am cool. But, I will tell you that sensitivity comes on both ends, yours and the receiver, let's just try to keep it to a minimum. K?

So much to tell, never enough time...

So much has happened over the last three days and I have so much to tell you all. I promise I will post it all in the morning!!!! Don't miss me too much!

Monday, April 12, 2010

And another thing....

Why is it that my husband and I both go to the same school, his aid has posted, which is totally great, but uhhh hellllloooooo where is mine? Just push the button and hit enter already... Why are these people playing with me?

Mother Nature can be a real you know what!!!!!!!

So why is it that mother nature in all her infinite wisdom, sometimes throws us crappy bones? Well I think she likes to sit back, kick her feet up and have a nice hearty laugh at our expense. Or is it that she wants to give us the reality check of "no, your life may not be as perfect as you think". WHO CARES WHAT MOTHER NATURE THINKS and what motherhood should be like. In my mind it is all still perfect. Right?

Partial Results

Did they really just say I need to take math 0097 AND 0098???!!!! WTH!!!! And I have to exit out???!!! Plus no aid results:-( Does it get any worse? Ugh! Well enough with that for now, just wanted to give the update. Have a fabulous weekend, enjoy the Easter holiday, but watch the hardboiled eggs, too many of those leads to long nights in the can.. lol ENJOY!

My Entrance Exam

Forgot to mention that yesterday I went to fantastic school in Georgia to take my Compass exam, ummmmm so lost. Yes I know I have been out of school for let's say 11 years, but come on people are we still using letters in math? WTH! It actually seems like it has gotten harder, or I have gotten dumber??? I asked the instructor to go right ahead and place me in 099 math, lol. Let's not dance around this, I know where I am weak at; and letters adding numbers, taking away fractions, yep that may very well be my weakest point. I need math for dummies, how in the world am I going to make it through nursing school, let alone make it into Nursing school. Oy Vey, what have I gotten myself into? Hopefully my wonderful husband will do my homework, but then how would that benefit me? Ugh I have to get this together I guess. On a lighter more brighter note, I met some really cool people yesterday, who like me were all very nervous, and had an innocence of what the next few years were going to be like. Everyone had a smile and had no clue that the smiles may soon fade to looks of panic when trying to get that midterm paper complete or of relief when the last "A" paper had been turned in. At that moment it all felt so good and new. I called my husband immediately after my exam to tell him all that I had experienced and the feelings I was feeling and he assured me this was going to be the best years of our lives, and I believed him. It was awesome that I could share that with him (him being a student at fantastic school in Georgia ahead of me)and understand each other. Now I can't promise you that I will always be so blissful when it comes to my husband, I'd be lying if I said I would, but at that moment it didn't matter. Now when I got home from fantastic school in Georgia, well let's just say that 3 kiddies, one with a friend from across the street, my husband and a kitchen with hardwood floors that I hate cleaning every night, not to mention having to watch my favorites Flashforward, Grey's and Private Practice (as my hubby pretends to like them so we can spend time together - again, he's the greatest for now)led to an extremely long but so worth it day. So now I wait for my aid and my grades to post, Oh come on man...

Such a Slacker!

Ok, so I know I really, really, need to post. Such a slacker right? Wrong! Well kind of. hee hee. This lady's been busy alright? So I'm waiting to get into fantastic school in Georgia, fill out app, hubby completes FAFSA for me (being the wonderful accountant that he is) yep because the girl applying to nursing school finds filling out the FAFSA so tedious and BORING!!! Man, can't wait to hit those A&P books when I finally make it in. (not so boring eh?) (or IF i finally make it in). Finally, the letter!! Dear blah blah blah, we would like to welcome you to fantastic school in Georgia, hope that you'll succeed. blah blah blah. Yes, the day has finally come! After, a husband, 3 kids, a job as an executive assistant for a couple of years, which some might consider a career, BUT not I said the cat. Finally my time to shine, show the world what I got! Kick some medical bootie! Where in the world is my financial aid people??? How do they expect me to go to school without some financial assistance? Are they mad? I need some moolah! So I've worked and worked and worked as said assistant only to have no money to send my butt to school!! Post my aid people, so I can get this show popping. Until then, I continue to check my student account with my fingers and toes crossed that my status has changed since the last ten minutes that I have checked, or that by some miraculous feat, an email will come from fantastic school in Georgia's financial aid office to my work email that isn't even on file in their records. But hey a girl can dream right?
